Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The previous troubleshooting procedure for the 2007 Heavy Duty truck engines was difficult to follow.

Solution

A new troubleshooting procedure for the Aftertreatment Regeneration Device (ARD) fuel system has been released to the Service Information System (SIS) website under the troubleshooting guides. All old copies of the procedure should be discarded.

The new troubleshooting procedure includes a parts list and instructions for fabricating a new test apparatus. The new test apparatus will be necessary for troubleshooting all Heavy Duty truck engines that are equipped with a Caterpillar Regeneration System (CRS).

The following list of Engine Diagnostic Codes pertain to the new procedure:

  • 4077-17

  • 4077-18

  • 3480-16

  • 4077-16

If there are issues with this procedure, provide feedback by selecting "Feedback " at the bottom of the main page on the (SIS) website.
