"112F Aftertreatment Loss of Combustion" error code

Refer to Illustration 1.

The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) may display a "112F Aftertreatment Loss of Combustion" error code when a regeneration is more than 90 percent complete. This condition occurs when the Aftertreatment Regeneration Device (ARD) has a loss of combustion during the lean burn portion of the regeneration.

Solution

When this condition occurs, perform the following procedure:

  1. Click the "Finish" button in order to complete the regeneration.

  1. Check the "Active Diagnostic Code" screen on Caterpillar ET. A 310 diagnostic code should be present. This code indicates that the regeneration was more than 90 percent complete before the loss of combustion.

  1. If there is a 310 code, no troubleshooting is required.

  1. If a 310 code is not present, the loss of combustion occurred during the main portion of the regeneration. Troubleshooting is required for the loss of combustion and the reason for the loss of combustion must be repaired.

ReferenceRefer to the most recent version of the Troubleshooting, "ARD Combustion Air – Test" troubleshooting procedure in order to troubleshoot the loss of combustion.
