Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.

This Special Instruction provides information for plugging the oil supply hole and the oil return hole on the 315-1391 Crankshaft .

NOTICE

The 315-1391 Crankshaft may require additional plugs for preventing an oil leak. Failure to ensure that the additional plugs are installed could result in an oil leak that can lead to severe damage to the engine. Before you install the crankshaft and the crankshaft vibration damper, verify the need for additional plugs.

Plug the Oil Supply Hole and the Oil Return Hole

The 315-1391 Crankshaft includes a hole for the engine oil supply and a hole for the oil return. The holes are drilled into the front of the crankshaft in order to supply engine oil to the damper only when the 319-8494 Damper Gp is used.

Do not install the plugs when the 319-8494 Damper Gp is used.

For the dampers that are listed in Table 1, the oil supply hole and the oil return hole must be plugged or a significant oil leak will occur.

The oil supply hole and the oil return hole must be plugged with two 323-3617 O-Ring Plugs and two 3J-7354 O-Ring Seals .

Make sure that you install the plugs when a damper that is listed in Table 1 is used.
