Assembly Procedure

Differential (Locking)

1. Install thrust washer (12) and differential gear (11) into the lower half of case assembly (13).

2. Install sleeve bearing (9) onto spider (10). Install differential pinion (8) and thrust washer (7). Make sure that all differential pinions (8) turn freely.

3. Install spider and gear assembly (6).

   Note: .The protrusions on the spider face downward in the direction of the locking pin.

4. Install the upper half of case assembly (5).

5. Install differential gear (4) and thrust washer (3).

6. Raise the temperature of ring gear to a maximum temperature of 135 °C (275 °F) for a maximum of 4 hours. Install ring gear (2). Make sure that the holes for bolts (1) are aligned with the differential case. Allow ring gear (2) to cool to room temperature.

7. Lubricate the washers and the threads of bolts (1). Install new bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to the correct torque specified in Table 1.

End By:

1. Install the differential.
