Transmission Does Not Automatically Shift Back Into Gear

Usage:

CX31 B3X
The transmission does not automatically shift back in to a gear because of a possible failure in the Auto Neutral feature. This feature may include the following programming:

  • Auto Neutral Function Enabled Status - Enabled

  • Auto Neutral Switch Input Configuration - Switch to Ground, Switch to Battery (1 or 2) or Parking Brake

  • Auto Neutral Gear Reengagement Brake Required Configuration (required or not required)

  • Auto Neutral Reengagement Configuration (Disabled, enabled for forward, enabled for forward and reverse or enabled for reverse)

  • Parking Brake Input Installation Status (Installed and neutralizer logic is enabled)

Normal Operation - When the Auto Neutral switch is closed with the service brake depressed (if required) and the Auto Reengagement Configuration is not programmed to Disabled, the transmission shifts back in to the previous gear. If the Auto Neutral switch is programmed to Parking Brake, the parking brake input must show activated before the shift is allowed.

Check the following:

  • Verify that the Auto Neutral Switch status is Closed.

  • If programmed, the parking brake input must show disabled.

  • If the Service Brake is required for automatic reengagement of a gear, verify that the Service Brake switch status is depressed.

  • Verify that the Auto Neutral Reengagement Configuration is not programmed to Disabled. If the configuration is programmed to Disabled, the operator is required to select NEUTRAL and the forward or reverse range before the transmission will shift out of NEUTRAL.
