Deflection Of Flywheel Housings Should Be Controlled During Transportation{1157}

Usage:

3412 Generator Sets With SR4 Generators (Except 589 Frame Size)

Care must be taken when transporting and unloading the generator sets listed above. These generator sets are supported in two places; under the engine, and under the generator.

NOTICE

The engine flywheel housing is not directly supported by the base or rails of the generator set. If the generator set is dropped or handled roughly, deflection of the engine flywheel housing can cause it to crack.

Deflection of the engine flywheel housing must be limited to .25 to .38 mm (.010 to .015"). If the generator set will be moved frequently or subjected to rough handling, flywheel housing support should be installed. The illustration shows a typical example of flywheel housing support.

NOTE: If a support is installed, it must not contact the engine flywheel housing during normal operation. If the flywheel housing contacts the supports, excessive vibration can damage generator set components.
