Usage:
3208 Marine Engines Equipped With Turbochargers And Aftercoolers
Description of Change: There have been reports of external oil leaks (such as crankshaft seals, valve cover gaskets and external fittings) on the above engines. A possible cause of these leaks is high crankcase pressure.
Turbocharged and aftercooled 3208 Marine Engines used a crankcase fume oil separator that has three elements made of fiber material. These fiber elements can become plugged and require replacement before the recommended service interval.
A new element is used in the crankcase fume oil separator that does not require replacement before the required service interval.
Adaptable As: Six 8S8032 Breather Elements are a direct replacement for three of the former 4W2576 Oil Fumes Elements used in the 4W2579 Air Inlet Filter Group. The former 4W2576 Oil Fumes Element has been canceled. The new 8S8032 Breather Elements are in effect with 3208 TA Marine Engines (1Z4286) and can be installed on all earlier engines.
Installation Instructions
The new elements do not have preformed chamfers to conform to the retaining cover. Slight forcing of the element retaining cover may be required to start the retaining nuts on the housing studs.
