Helper Spring Groups Improve Operation Of Air Shutoff Groups{7400,7418}

Usage:

D379, D398, D399 Engines Equipped With Hydramechanical Shutoffs (HMSO)

Description of Change: There have been reports on some of the above engines that the air inlet valves do not fully close when the hydramechanical shutoff is activated. This is caused by excessive friction in the pivot shaft of the air inlet valve. The new helper spring groups provide the additional force needed to close the valves.

Adaptable As: The new 4W9863 Shutoff Spring Group is available for parts service only and is adaptable to all D379, D398, D399 Engines equipped with hydramechanical shutoffs. The parts for the 4W9863 Shutoff Spring Group are shown in the chart. Two groups are needed for each engine. The location of the parts is in the illustration.
