Foil Shield Will Help Prevent Electrical Interference In Engine Set Point Indicator{0781,0785}

Usage:

A foil shield is available for installation in the housing of the 6V4060 Engine Set Point Indicator. The foil shield will help prevent electrical interference. When the 6V2100 Multitach is used with the engine set point indicator, this interference could cause incorrect readings.

Use the procedure that follows to install the new 8T998 Shield in the housing of the engine set point indicator.

NOTE: Use Special Instruction, Form SEHS7931, Troubleshooting and Repair of the 6V4060 Set Point Indicator Group, for the necessary disassembly and assembly procedures in the following steps.

1. Remove the back cover of the engine set point indicator housing. See Steps 1 and 2 on page 9 of the Special Instruction.

2. Remove the protective backing on the foil shield and put it in position in the housing as shown in Illustration 1. Make sure the foam rubber pad is toward the end of the case.

3. Make sure the coil in Illustration 2 is down as far as possible. Be careful when pushing the coil down. Excessive force can damage the coil.

4. Install the cover on the engine set point indicator housing. See Step 4 on page 11 of the Special Instruction.

5. Check the operation of the set point indicator. See pages 15 and 16 of the Special Instruction.
