    NOTICE

    Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

    Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Inspect the condition of the gasket between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold. Replace the gasket, if necessary.

  1. Place clean engine oil in the oil supply port of the turbocharger prior to installation. The oil will provide lubrication during starting and protection during storage.

  1. Apply Tooling (A) to the turbocharger mounting studs.

    Note: Discard the nuts after use. Use new nuts for installation.

  1. Install the gasket, turbocharger (4) , and nuts (5) on the exhaust manifold. Tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 70 ± 15 N·m (50 ± 11 lb ft).

  1. Install the gasket and connect tube assembly (6) .

  1. Install the gasket and tube assembly (3) .

  1. Connect hose (2) and hose assembly (1) .

  1. Refill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
