Some customers have had problems with engine slobbering on the above models, especially in applications where the engine operates under light loads or at idle rpm for extended periods of time. For assistance with this problem, the earlier piston body assembly which uses rectangular type piston rings has again been made available. The installation of rectangular type piston rings will generally give better control of engine slobbering in light load or idle conditions. The rectangular rings seat (seal) better in these conditions because the lower cylinder pressures have less effect than on keystone type piston rings.
7N736 Piston Body Assemblies, 1P431 Top Rings, 9S2264 Intermediate Rings and 1P8474 Oil Rings can be used on these engines to prevent engine slobbering.

---|
Do not use these pistons and rectangular rings in applications where the horsepower is above 205 hp for 1500 rpm engines, 240 hp for 1800 rpm engines or 285 hp for 2100 rpm engines.
