Assembly Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Do not, at any time, mix the components between the valve groups during the assembly.

1. Do the following procedure to assemble the lift control valve.

   1. If seals (64) were removed, install the seals in each end of body (32) .

   2. Put the O-ring seals into position on valve (62). Install the valve in body (32). Tighten valve (62) to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (108.0 ± 9 lb in).

   3. Install the O-ring seals on seat (61). Put ball (63) into position in the body and install seat (61). Tighten the seat to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (108.0 ± 9 lb in).

   4. Put retainer (59), spacer (55), spring (60) and retainer (56) into position on spool (54). Install coupling (57) and shaft (58). Tighten coupling (57) to a torque of 6.8 ± 1.4 N·m (61.0 ± 13 lb in).

   5. Install spool (54) in body (32), as shown.

   6. Install O-ring seal (65) in housing (46) .

   7. Install O-ring seals (50) and (51) on the piston, as shown. Install seals (52) and (53) on the piston, as shown.

   8. Put housing (46) into position on the body and install three bolts (48). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 11 ± 2.8 N·m (99.0 ± 25 lb in).

   9. Install the washer, eight balls (47) and piston (49) in housing (46) .

   10. Put spring (44) and retainer (45) into position in housing (46). Use a press and Tool (A) in order to hold the spring and the retainer in place. Install snap ring (43) with Tool (B) .

   11. Put filter (40), guard (42) and retainer (39) into position on the body. Install two bolts (41). Tighten bolts (41) to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.4 N·m (49.0 ± 13 lb in).

   12. Install O-ring seals (69) and (71) on body (38). Install ring (70) on body (38). Install body (38) in body (32). Tighten body (38) to a torque of 27 ± 3 N·m (20.0 ± 2 lb ft).

   13. Install O-ring seals (66) and (68) on plug (37). Install ring (67) on plug (37) .

   14. Put valve (35) and spring (36) into position in body (38). Install plug (37) .

   15. Install the O-ring seal on plug (31). Put spring (33), spring (34) and valve (30) into position in body (32). Install plug (31). Tighten the plug to a torque of 27 ± 3 N·m (20.0 ± 2 lb ft).

2. Do the following procedure to assemble the tilt and the angle control valves.

   1. If seals (72) were removed, install the seals in each end of body (12) .

   2. Put the O-ring seals into position on valve (27) and install the valve in body (12). Tighten the valve to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (108.0 ± 9 lb in).

   3. Install the O-ring seals on seat (28). Put ball (29) into position in the body and install seat (28). Tighten the seal to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (108.0 ± 9 lb in).

   4. Put retainer (25), spring (22), retainer (26) and spacer (23) into position on spool (20). Install bolt (24). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 11 ± 2.8 N·m (99 ± 25 lb in).

   5. Install spool (20) in body (12). Put housing (21) into position on the body and install bolts (19). Tighten bolts (19) to a torque of 11 ± 2.8 N·m (99 ± 25 lb in).

   6. Put filter (18), guard (16) and retainer (17) into position on body (12). Install bolts (15). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.4 N·m (49.0 ± 13 lb in).

   7. Install the O-ring seal on plug (11). Put spring (13), spring (14) and valve (10) into position in body (12). Install plug (11). Tighten the plug to a torque of 27 ± 3 N·m (20.0 ± 2 lb ft).

3. Install studs (8) in manifold (4) .

4. Install O-ring seals (7) in the manifold. Install valves (3), (5) and (6) in the manifold.

Note: Shims (9) must be in position between the manifold and all of the valves.

5. Install valve (6), valve (3), valve (5) and shims (9) on studs (8) .

6. Put cover (1) into position on the studs and install nuts (2). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 25 ± 1.4 N·m (19.0 ± 1 lb ft).

7. Fill the bulldozer control valve with clean hydraulic oil.

End By: Install the bulldozer control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bulldozer Control Valve - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
