  1. Remove pin retainer (N) and pin (P) from the center bracket on the back of the blade.

Note: Two spacers are provided for assembling link assembly (M) to the blade.

  1. Assemble link assembly (M) and the spacers in the back of the blade. Use pin (P) , retainer (N) and the bolts to assemble link assembly (M) .

    Illustration 6g00701137

Note: Link assembly (M) must be assembled with hydraulic fitting (Q) , positioned 90 degrees to the length of the link assembly.

    Illustration 7g00701139

  1. Raise C-frame (J) . Place 203.2 mm (8.0 inch) blocking (R) under the center of the C-frame. Lower C-frame (J) onto the blocking.

  1. Lift the blade at the top of the blade.

    Illustration 8g00701140

  1. Position the blade in front of C-frame (J) with link assembly (M) through the opening in C-frame (J) .

  1. Center the bearing in the link over the hole in the block assembly.

  1. Install spacers on the top and bottom of the bearing in the link assembly.

    Illustration 9g00700980

  1. Install pin (L) , retainer (K) and bolts in order to secure the link in the block assembly (H) .

    Illustration 10g00701141

  1. Adjust the position of the blade so that the spherical bearing in the upper center bracket on the back of the blade is centered over sleeve (S) in the lower bore of C-frame (J) .

  1. Lower the hoist so that the spherical bearing rests on top of sleeve (S) .

Note: Do not remove the hoisting equipment from the blade.

    Illustration 11g00701143

    Illustration 12g00701144

  1. Lower pin (7) through the top three bores of C-frame (J) and through the spherical bearing in the blade.

Note: Pin (7) will only be lowered through the two top bores in the C-frame on the D5M Track-Type tractor.

  1. Place pin (5) through the top two bores of C-frame (J) into the top of pin (7) .

    Illustration 13g00701145

  1. Place all shims (1) on top of pin (5) . Place cap (4) on top of shims (1) .

    Illustration 14g00701146

    Illustration 15g00701157

  1. Use bolts (A) , washers (2) and spacers (B) to press the pin in place in the sleeve. Tighten the bolts evenly.

Note: Use spacers (B) or the additional washers (2) to install the pin. Use bolts (3) and washers (2) to finish the operation.

  1. Remove bolts (3) , cap (4) and shims (1) .

    Illustration 16g00701159

  1. Install eyebolt (C) in the top of pin (5) . Pull pin (5) from the C-frame.

Note: The lifting equipment may be removed from the blade at this point. The blade can rest with only one end bit on the floor. The blade can pivot about the pin.

    Illustration 17g00700974

  1. Assemble spacer (6) into C-frame (J) .

Note: Route tilt cylinder hoses between C-frame (J) and spacer (6) , as shown.

  1. Remove the rod end pin and two spacers from the upper right corner of the blade.

    Illustration 18g00701161

  1. Install the tilt cylinder (8) into C-frame (J) . The bearing can rest on the top of spacer (6) .

  1. Install pin (5) , shims (1) and cap (4) . Bolts (A) , washers (2) or spacers (B) until bolts (3) can be used to seat pin (5) .

    Illustration 19g00701162

  1. Check the gap between the top of C-frame (J) and cap (4) . Adjust the number of shims (1) until only one shim is partially protruding above the top face of C-frame (J) .

Note: After the final assembly of pin (5) , there must be a gap between cap (4) and the top of C-frame (J) . However, cap (4) may contact the top of C-frame (J) in the area under each bolt head.

  1. Remove the plugs from the ports of cylinder (8) . Use an appropriate container in order to collect any oil that may drain from the cylinder.

  1. Use connectors (9) and seals (10) (not shown) in order to install the hydraulic hoses to tilt cylinder (8) .

    Illustration 20g00701163

Note: Before tightening the hydraulic hose connections, put a twist in the hydraulic hoses. Refer to the illustration.

    Illustration 21g00701166

  1. Install the rod end of cylinder (8) to the blade. Use the pin, the retainer bolts and the spacers to install cylinder (8) .

Note: Install a spacer above the rod end of cylinder (8) . Install a spacer below the rod end of cylinder (8) .

  1. Install guard assembly (11) to tilt cylinder (8) . Use bolts (12) and washers (13) .

    Illustration 22g00700979

  1. Install one angle cylinder to the blade. Use the pin, the retainer, the bolt, the washer and the spacers that are provided with the blade.

Note: Install one spacer above the cylinder rod end. Install one spacer below the cylinder rod end.

  1. Repeat Step 31 in order to install the cylinder on the other side of the blade.

    Illustration 23g00700963

  1. Install clamps (14) to the head end of cylinder (8) and tilt cylinder hoses. Use bolts (15) , washers (16) and locknuts (17) .

    Illustration 24g00701167

  1. Loosen four bolts (F) on the back side of block assembly (H) .

  1. Move spacers (G) to the back side of the block assembly (H) . Tighten four bolts (F) .

Note: Adjust the blade. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
