Problem:
The following transmission controls (shift lever) may experience performance problems:
These transmission controls may experience any of the following failure modes:
- - Intermittent operation of the 1-2-3-4 speed function
- - Disabling of the speed output (transmission neutralizes)
- - Speed output remains in the last valid speed
- - Disabling of the speed output (transmission neutralizes)
The problem is limited to certain dates that the shifters were manufactured. There is a six Alpha-character date code on the bottom of the shifter (where the wires exit the unit). The last four characters of the suspect date codes are NRNN, NANN, NLNN, NKNN, NONN, and NDNN.
Solution:
If a shifter problem is suspected, follow the troubleshooting procedure in the appropriate Service Manual. Replace the shifter if necessary. The problem has already been corrected at the shifter manufacturer. Additional service information will be announced as the information becomes available.
