A New Battery Clip Is Now Used On The 980G Wheel Loader
Usage:
WHEEL LOADERS980G (2KR1-3103, 9CM1-1759, 2SR1-589) WHEEL LOADERS
Problem:
The 9M-8406 Clips fail to adequately secure the positive and negative battery cables. The 9M-8406 Clips allow for motion between the cables and the clips. This allows for the cables to wear and possibly short out.
Solution:
The new 174-5907 Clip provides a more secure mounting of the battery cables which prevents motion between the cables and the clips. This prevents wear on the battery cables and therefore lengthens the service life.
Installation Procedure:
- 1. Park the machine and lower implements to the ground.
- 2. Turn the machine off and turn the battery disconnect switches to the OFF position.
- 3. Locate the starter on the engine in the right rear corner of the machine.
- 4. Follow the battery cables from starter (1). Replace two 9M-8406 clips (2) with the new 174-5907 Clips on positive battery cable (3).
