TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS

D10R (3KR)

Component Code 7179

SUBJECT: SAND BLASTING OF RADIATOR CORES

PROBLEM:

Direct drive fan additions run appreciably faster and can worsen the effect of airborne abrasive dust such as sand and fine ground rock debris. The predominant mode of multiple radiator core failures shows that most have been failing from sand blasting.

SOLUTION:

All D10R Track-Type Tractors should be equipped with sand blast grids unless proven that there are problems with cleaning, such as in woodchip applications or other high-debris applications where no abrasives are encountered.

In early 2001, the blast grid will be standard on the D10R with a less-off option.
