Problem:
Service Magazine dated January 31, 2000, announced the availability of new software for the machines listed in an article on page 18, entitled Flash Software Now Available. If the software is installed on these tractors, and then the technician attempts to warm the transmission to operating temperatures by stalling the torque converter, there is a risk that the transmission clutches will slip during the stall condition. The clutch discs and plates are not capable of absorbing the heat that is generated during a prolonged slip and may be damaged. Due to potential damage that may occur to transmission clutches when using this flash file on machines using older 5/8" ECPC valves, do not use this flash file.
Solution:
A new flash file, 191-5019, resolves this problem. Perform all calibrations per the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting Manual. Do not attempt to reload values from previous software versions. Values established with previous software versions are not valid with the new software.
