    ------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.

Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.

Note: Care must be taken when coupling shell (28) and the spring are removed. The coupling is under spring force.

  18. Turn over the housing and remove nut (27) and the washer from the impulse coupling.

  19. Use pliers on one of the drive lugs of coupling shell (28). Turn and pull the coupling at the same time until the spring releases. To make a separation of the coupling from the hub, the spring end must be removed from the groove in the hub.

    Illustration 16g00996258

Note: The coil of spring (30) must be in the correct direction for magneto rotation. The spring must be in a clockwise direction from end (29) in order to rotate the coil counterclockwise.

  20. Remove spring (30) from coupling shell (28).
