The lifting rings on the generator are for handling the generator alone. The rings must not be used to lift the genset. Choose a lifting system that will allow the generator to remain horizontal while the machine is being lifted. See illustration 2.
Note: In order to install the generator to the engine, the holes of the coupling discs should be aligned with holes in the flywheel. Crank the engine in order to align the holes. Do not use the alternator fan in order to turn the rotor.
- Use a suitable lifting device in order to install the generator to the engine. See Illustration 2.
- Bolt the generator to the base by installing the two mounting bolts through the frame of the generator.
- The coupling disc is held to the engine flywheel by nuts and washers. Replace the six nuts and six washers that hold the coupling disc.
Tighten the nuts for the coupling discs to 28 N·m (20.65 lb ft). Make sure that there is lateral play on the crankshaft.
- Replace the six bolts and washers from the flywheel housing.
- Replace the four nuts and washers from the flywheel housing.
- Replace the four nuts and washers from the exhaust manifold elbow. See illustration 3.

- Replace the ground cable from the ground point (18) on the generator frame by installing the bolt and the washer. Tighten the bolt to 5 N·m (3.7 lb ft).
- Replace the grill on the air outlet (16) by installing the two bolts from the top of the flange (drive end) (3) . Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (3.7 lb ft).
Location
For the standard power ratings, be sure that the room location of the generator does not exceed 40 °C (104 °F). For temperatures above 40 °C (104 °F), apply a derating coefficient. Fresh air, which is free of moisture and dust, must be able to circulate around the air input louvers on the opposite drive end. Prevention of hot air from the machine from recycling is essential. Also prevent recycling of exhaust fumes from the engine.
