Engine Oil Filter Base - Disassemble

Usage:

C18 C1J

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Remove".

    NOTICE

    Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

    Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


    Note: Certain applications will be equipped with engine oil filters. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Engine Oil and Filter - Change.

  1. Remove plugs (6) and O-ring seals (7) from engine oil filter base (1).

  2. Remove plugs (5) and O-ring seals (4) from engine oil filter base (1).

  3. Remove springs (3) and relief plungers (2) from engine oil filter base (1).

  4. Remove cover (12) (if equipped) and O-ring seal (8) from engine oil filter base (1).

  5. Remove elbow (17) and O-ring seal (16) from cover (15) (If equipped).

  6. Remove connector (14) from adapter (10) (if equipped).

  7. Remove O-ring seal (11) from connector (14) (if equipped).

  8. Remove cover (15) and O-ring seal (13) from engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).

  9. Remove adapter (10) and O-ring seal (9) from engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove engine oil filters (22).

  2. Remove studs (33) from engine oil filter bases (23).

  3. Remove dust cap (18) and sampling valve (19).

  4. Remove elbows (24) and O-ring seals (25).

  5. Remove covers (20) and gaskets (21) from engine oil filter bases (23).

  6. Remove engine oil filter bases (23) and gaskets (21) from oil filter adapter (26).

  7. Remove plug (28) and plug (29) from oil filter adapter (26).

    Note: If necessary, remove the cover, the spring, and the relief plunger from both engine oil filter bases (23).

  8. Remove cover (27).

  9. Remove spring (30) and relief plunger (31).

  10. Remove drive screw (32).
