Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Remove the air inlet hose from the turbocharger and the air inlet elbow.

  2. Remove bolts and clips (4).

  3. Disconnect the harness assembly from electrical connector (7). Disconnect fuel line (9) from air inlet heater (8).

  4. Remove the air inlet heater from the inlet manifold.

  5. Disconnect harness assembly (6) at the inlet air temperature sensor.

  6. Remove boost pressure sensor (5) from inlet manifold (1).

  7. Remove bolts (10). Remove the inlet manifold from the cylinder head. Remove the inlet manifold gasket from the cylinder head and the inlet manifold.

  8. If necessary, remove bolts (3) in order to remove air inlet elbow (2) from inlet manifold (1). Remove the gasket for the air inlet elbow.
