Usage:

G3406 1RK
Note: For the correct procedure on measuring for a bent crankshaft, refer to the Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8054, "Procedure to Measure and Straighten Crankshafts".

For more information about the crankshaft journals, refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod and Main Bearing Journals".

For information on installation of the seal groups, refer to Special Instruction, SMHS8508, "Special Handling Information and Installation Instructions for Crankshaft Seal Groups That Have Hydrodynamic Grooves In the Sealing Lip".

(1) Protrusion of dowel from the front of the crankshaft's outside diameter ... 4.1 ± 0.5 mm (0.16 ± 0.02 inch)

(2) Maximum protrusion of pin from the rear of the crankshaft ... 6.4 mm (0.25 inch)

(3) Crankshaft gear

Install the gear with the timing mark "V" on the outside of the crankshaft.
Maximum permissible temperature of the gear for installation on the crankshaft ... 205 °C (400 °F)

(4) Thrust plates

The thrust plates are used only on the center main bearing.
Thickness of new thrust plate ... 5.74 ± 0.04 mm (0.226 ± 0.002 inch)
End play of the installed crankshaft ... 0.15 mm to 0.51 mm (0.006 inch to 0.020 inch)
Maximum permissible end play with used bearings ... 0.89 mm (0.035 inch)

(5) Rear crankshaft seal and wear sleeve

If the seal is separated from the wear sleeve, the seal group cannot be used.
For installation, the seal driver must not contact the seal within this diameter: ... 177.80 ± 0.25 mm (7.000 ± 0.010 inch)

(6) Dimension for the rear seal

The rear seal must be parallel to the rear face of the crankshaft within this tolerance: ... 0 ± 0.13 mm (0 ± 0.005 inch)
Distance between the rear face of the crankshaft and the wear sleeve ... 1.5 ± 0.5 mm (0.06 ± 0.02 inch)

(7) Front crankshaft seal and wear sleeve

If the seal is separated from the wear sleeve, the seal group cannot be used.
For installation, the seal driver must not contact the seal within this diameter: ... 177.80 ± 0.25 mm (7.000 ± 0.010 inch)

(8) Dimension for the front seal

The wear sleeve must be flush with the front face of the crankshaft within this tolerance: ... 0 ± 0.13 mm (0 ± 0.005 inch)
The front seal must be parallel to the front face of the crankshaft within this tolerance: ... 0 ± 0.13 mm (0 ± 0.005 inch)
