Installation Procedure For Spark Plugs And Ignition Transformers For Ignitions On Engines That Must Meet The Requirements Of The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) {1555, 1561}

G3406 1RK
Engines:
G3406 (S/N: 4FD; 1RK)

Use the Installation Procedure that follows when you install the spark plugs and the ignition transformers on G3406 Engines that are equipped with a 107-2395 Gas Engine Ignition or a 183-2451 Gas Engine Ignition .

Note: The 107-2395 Gas Engine Ignition is used with engines that are equipped with the Altronic III ignition system. The 183-2451 Gas Engine Ignition is used with engines that are equipped with a Catapillar Digital Ignition System (CDIS).

(1) 9Y-4167 Transformer

(2) 176-7748 Gasket

(3) 4W-2256 Spark Plug

(4) 108-3515 Plug Gasket

  1. Be sure that all of the threads are clean and free of foreign material.

  1. Set the spark plug gap to 0.38 mm (0.015 inch).

  1. Install a new plug gasket (4) on the bottom of the spark plug. Install a new gasket (2) on the top of the spark plug.

  1. Install the spark plug with the new gaskets. Tighten the spark plug to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).

  1. Install the transformer (1) on the spark plug. Finger tighten the transformer. Then, tighten the transformer for an additional 1/8 of a turn. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE TRANSFORMER.
