Usage:

3056E 356

Removal Procedure

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  3. Install Tooling (A) in the cylinder block in Hole (X).

Note: Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of the bolt that is positioned in Hole (Z).

  4. Position the gasket and engine oil pan (3) in the correct position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (2) to secure engine oil pan (3) to the cylinder block. Tighten the bolts finger tight.

  5. Remove Tooling (A) and install the remaining bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in). Tighten the bolts in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 5.

  6. Install oil drain valve (1) or install the O-ring seal and the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug or the oil drain valve to a torque of 34 N·m (301 lb in).

  7. Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level that is indicated on the engine oil level gauge.

Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the lubrication system capacity of the engine.
