Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness for the fuel temperature sensor (1) .

  1. Disconnect the hose assembly (2) from the siphon block (4) .

  1. Remove six bolts and washers (3) that hold the fuel manifold (5) and siphon block (4) in position.

  1. Remove the siphon block (4) and the fuel manifold (5) .

  1. Remove the six O-ring seals from the fuel manifold (5) .

  1. Remove two O-ring seals (6) from the siphon block (4) .

  1. Remove fitting (7), spring (9), and valve (10) from the siphon block (4) .

  1. Remove O-ring (8) from fitting (7) .

  1. Remove fitting (11) from the siphon block (4) .

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from the fitting (11) .

  1. Remove fuel temperature sensor (1) from the siphon block (4) .

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from the fuel temperature sensor (1) .

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Check the condition of the O-ring seals. Replace the O-rings, if necessary.

  1. Install the O-ring seal onto the fuel temperature sensor (1) .

  1. Install the fuel temperature sensor (1) into the siphon block (4) .

  1. Install the O-ring seal (8) onto the fitting (7) .

  1. Install the valve (10), spring (9), O-ring (8), and fitting (7) into the siphon block (4) .

  1. Install the O-ring seal onto the fitting (11) .

  1. Install the fitting (11) into the siphon block (4) .

  1. Install the two O-ring seals (6) onto the siphon block (4) .

  1. Install the six O-ring seals on the fuel manifold (5) .

  1. Put the siphon block (4) and the fuel manifold (5) in position and install the six bolts and washers (3) .

  1. Connect the hose assembly (2) to the siphon block (4) .

  1. Connect the wiring harness to the fuel temperature sensor (1) .
