空气切断阀用于在发生紧急停机事件时，切断发动机除燃油外的空气供应。 紧急停机时只使用空气切断阀。 如果发生紧急停机，必须手动将两个空气切断阀复位到开启位置，再重新起动发动机。 都在发动机两侧有一个复位手柄 (2) 。
空气切断阀由一个弹簧加载的蝶形阀构成，此蝶形阀使用发动机机油压力进行液压驱动。 有两种方法可以在紧急状态时关闭空气切断阀。 来自 ECM 的电气信号会起动液压阀上的发动机机油电磁阀。 电磁阀安装在发动机右侧。 空气切断阀可以手动启动。 这可以通过拉动位于发动机两侧的红色紧急手动切断手柄 (1) 来完成。
