The 163-3266 Time Delay Relay is in the Engine Supervisory System (ESS) panel. This time delay relay maintains the power supply to the relay for the prelube pump switch if the Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) resets during engine operation. If the 163-3266 Time Delay Relay malfunctions, an unexplained engine shutdown could occur. The fault code that is most likely to be displayed on the Status Control Module (SCM) screen will be 05-DIAG. It is also possible that no engine SCM fault codes or no Engine Control Module (ECM) fault codes will be displayed.
Check the settings for the time delay relay. The 163-3266 Time Delay Relay should be set to the following specifications:
- Set one Timing Function Switch to 50 seconds.
- Set the other Timing Function Switch to Release mode.
- Set the Timing Adjust Potentiometer to 1.5 seconds.

Use care when you make adjustments to the time delay relay. The potentiometers for the relay have distinct START points and END points that should not be exceeded.
