Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Drain the oil from the engine oil pan into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

- Remove engine oil pan (2).

- Clean the sealing surface of the engine oil pan, cylinder block, housing (front), and the flywheel housing. Install seal (3) on the cylinder block.

Illustration 4 g00625287 - Position engine oil pan (2) and install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of
47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 5 lb ft) . - Tighten drain plugs (4) to a torque of
70 ± 10 N·m (50 ± 7 lb ft) . - Fill the engine to the correct level with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual.
