SUBJECT: A SHUTTLE VALVE IN THE MAIN HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVE MAY
CAUSE ERROR CODE 1192-07 AND HYDRAULIC FUNCTION SHUTDOWN

PROBLEM:

Certain Excavators may have an extra shuttle valve in the main hydraulic control valve. The shuttle valve prevents the load signal pressure from draining to the hydraulic tank when the joysticks are returned to the NEUTRAL position. The load signal pressure causes the pumps to remain in the UPSTROKE position with no command from the joysticks for a hydraulic function. The machine Electronic Control Module (ECM) will set error code 1192-07 and disable the hydraulic system. The hydraulic activation control lever must be cycled in order to activate hydraulic power. The symptom may be difficult to repeat. The symptom may only be present when the machine is fully warmed up.

Extra Shuttle Valve
(A) Port For A 4T-1860 Shuttle Valve Or A 9S-4191 Plug
(B) Port For The Counterweight Removal Load Sensing Line Or A
9S-4191 Plug

The port that may have an extra shuttle valve is in line with the stick spool on the main hydraulic control valve. The port accepts a 4T-1860 Shuttle Valve that functions as a load signal resolver valve when the machine is configured with the counterweight removal option.

SOLUTION:

If the symptoms occur, check the main hydraulic control valve in order to make sure that the valve is assembled correctly. A machine that is configured with the counterweight removal will have a 4T-1860 Shuttle Valve in port (A). A machine that is configured without counterweight removal will have a 9S-4191 Plug in port (A).

If the extra shuttle valve is assembled without a counterweight removal load sensing line connected to the neighboring port, remove the extra shuttle valve and replace it with a 9S-4191 Plug and 3J-1907 Seal.

If the extra shuttle valve exists, record the serial number of the main hydraulic control valve. Contact Colleen Stucker (630) 859-4857 and report the serial number of the control valve. The location of the serial number on the main hydraulic control valve is shown in Illustration 2.
