SUBJECT: Some Pumps May Have the Incorrect Actuator Installed After A Rebuild
PROBLEM:
The incorrect actuator has been found in some pumps in the field. The incorrect actuator is installed in the pump during the rebuild of the pump group at the dealership. There are two different versions of the actuator that are used on the 5230 and 5230B Mining Shovels. When the incorrect actuator is used, interference with the mating parts will cause the compensator valve to operate erratically.
SOLUTION:
Care must be taken when selecting the parts that are required for rebuilding the pump, in order to prevent pump operational problems after installation. The early version of the actuator must not be installed in a later version pump control. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.

On the later version, Illustration 2, the material below the roller trunnion has been removed and the sleeve does not captivate the spring. This allows the roller to sit in a deeper slot in the controller lever. The material below the trunnion on the roller of the early version, Illustration 1, will not fit completely in the deeper slot of the later version controller lever. This will cause the compensator valve to malfunction.
