SUBJECT: Operation Of Bucket May Experience A Cycling Surge
PROBLEM:
There have been complaints that an objectionable cyclical surge may occur when the bucket circuit is moved to a fully open or fully close position.
SOLUTION:
When this complaint is experienced in the machines listed, install either a 9G-6403 or 4J-9780 Orifice Plug (1.6 mm (.06 in.) orifice) in the bucket compensator passage (1) as shown in Illustration 1. The orifice plug installed beneath the plug should greatly reduce the bucket surge. An alternative repair can be to drill a 1.6 mm (.06 in.) orifice in a 3D-4603 Plug.
NOTE: Refer to Service Magazine; November 27, 1995; "Various Size Orifice Plugs Available Through Parts Department"; for other orifice sizes. An orifice size smaller that 1.6 mm (.06 inch) may be tried but could result in a slower response time after the bucket control lever is moved.
