Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

- Loosen clamp (1) and disconnect hose (2) from the top of the radiator.
- Loosen clamp (3) and disconnect hose (4) from the bottom of the radiator.

- Remove twelve bolts (5) from radiator guard (7) .

- Remove two plates (6) that hold radiator guard (7) together.
- Remove two halves of radiator guard (7) .
- Install Tool (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to radiator (8) .

- Remove two bolts (9) and the washers from the mounting bracket on the top of the radiator.
- Remove two bolts (10) and the washers from the mounting brackets on the bottom of the radiator.

- Remove radiator (8) from the engine. The radiator has a weight of 27 kg (60 lb).
- Remove the two hoses from the radiator, if necessary.

- Install the two hoses on the radiator, if necessary.
- Use Tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to position radiator (8) on the engine.

- Install the washers and two bolts (10) in the mounting bracket on the bottom of the engine.
- Install the washers and two bolts (9) in the mounting bracket on the top of the engine.
- Install two halves of radiator guard (7) .

- Install two plates (6) that hold radiator guard (7) together.
- Install twelve bolts (5) that hold radiator guard (7) on the engine.
- Connect hose (4) and tighten clamp (3) .

- Connect hose (2) and tighten clamp (1) .

- Fill the radiator with coolant to the correct level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
