Installation Procedure for the Front Idler and Recoil Spring on CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements which are Based on 330 and 330B Track Type Excavators

Note: Make sure that the mating surfaces on the bearings of the front idler are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly. Also, make sure that the support of the recoil spring are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly.

1. Fasten a hoist to the recoil spring. Place the recoil spring in position against the bearings on the front idler. Temporarily install four bolts (3) that hold the unit together.

2. Fasten a hoist to the front idler and the recoil spring. Put the unit partially into the undercarriage frame assembly. Leave four bolts (3) exposed. Tighten four bolts (3) to a torque of 325 ± 40 N·m (240 ± 30 lb ft).

3. Open the relief valve on the hydraulic track adjuster by one turn only. Place the front idler and recoil spring (1) in the correct position in the undercarriage frame assembly. Use a pry bar in order to slide the front idler and the recoil spring into the undercarriage frame assembly.
