  1. Remove crankshaft pulley (5) .

Installation Procedure

    NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Thoroughly clean the following parts: the bore of the pulley, tapered rings, spacer and nose of the crankshaft.

Note: Do not use a degreaser on the parts.

Note: Do not expand the tapered rings.

  1. Install spacer (6) and tapered rings (7). Ensure that the gaps of the tapered rings are not aligned.

Note: The tapered rings must be aligned correctly for proper installation.

  1. Lubricate O-ring seal (9) and thrust block (8) with clean engine oil. Place the thrust block (8) and bolts (3) into position.

  1. Tighten bolts (3) evenly. Gradually tighten the bolts to a final torque of 115 N·m (85 lb ft).

    Illustration 8g00637928

  1. Position crankshaft vibration damper (4) so that the eight bolt holes align with the pulley.

Note: On some engines, the damper is placed on the rear of the pulley. Fit the inner flange of the damper to the rear of the pulley.

  1. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the eight bolts (5) that fasten the crankshaft to the pulley. Install eight bolts (5) and tighten bolts (5) evenly. Gradually tighten the bolts to a final torque of 35 N·m (25 lb ft).

Note: Some engines are equipped with a viscous damper. Tighten the bolts for the viscous damper to a torque of 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the V-Belts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "V-Belts - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".
