Final Drive Sprocket - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure for the Final Drive Sprocket on CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements which are Based on 330 and 330B Track Type Excavators

Start By:

  1. Separate the track assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate" in this manual.

    Note: Adjust the height of Tooling (A) so that there is sufficient clearance between the sprocket and the track links for the removal of the sprocket from the final drive.

  1. Lift the side of the machine, and install Tooling (A) under the frame, as shown.

  1. Remove bolts (1) that hold the sprocket to the final drive.

  1. Fasten Tool (B) and a hoist to sprocket (2), as shown. Remove the sprocket. The weight of the sprocket is 88 kg (195 lb).

Start By:

  1. Separate the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate" in this manual.

    Note: Adjust the height of Tooling (A) so that there is sufficient clearance between the sprocket and the track for the removal of the sprocket from the final drive.

  1. Lift the side of the machine in order to install Tooling (A) under the frame, as shown.

  1. Remove bolts (1) that hold sprocket (2) to the final drive.

    Note: Use several washers between Tooling (B) and the sprocket. This will prevent damage to the sprocket.

  1. Fasten Tooling (B ) and a suitable lifting device with a bolt, and a nut to sprocket (2), as shown.

  1. Remove sprocket (2). The weight of the sprocket is approximately 40 kg (88 lb).

  1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the sprocket and the final drive prior to installing the sprocket.

  1. Fasten Tool (B) and a hoist to sprocket (2), and place the sprocket in position on the final drive.

  1. Apply a thin coat of 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of bolts (1) that hold the sprocket to the final drive. Install bolts (1) that secure the sprocket to the final drive. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 900 ± 100 N·m (660 ± 75 lb ft).

  1. Raise the machine, and remove Tooling (A) from the frame.

End By: Connect the track assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Connect" in this manual.

  1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the sprocket and the final drive prior to installing the sprocket.

    Note: Use several washers between Tooling (B) and the sprocket. This will prevent damage to the sprocket.

  1. Fasten Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to sprocket (2) with a nut, washers, and a bolt.

  1. Put the sprocket in position on the final drive.

  1. Install bolts (1) that secure the sprocket to the final drive.

  1. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (395 ± 50 lb ft).

  1. Raise the machine. Remove Tooling (A) from the frame.

End By: Connect the track assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Connect" in this manual.
