Installation Procedure for Upgraded Mainframe Endcaps and Extender Deflectors on Certain SE60V XW Screeds {6640}

Observe all safety precautions recommended by the chemical manufacturer for handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.

Before servicing/performing maintenance on the machine, electrical power must be physically disconnected; battery plugs must be disconnected from the batteries, or the trailing cable must be unplugged, and warning tags and padlocks shall be applied by a certified electrician. Certified electricians shall perform or direct any electrical work, including any energized testing, repair work in controllers, motors, or other approved compartments, and shall insure that all compartments are properly closed and inspected prior to re-energization. All applicable lock out and tag out procedures must be followed.

Do not operate the machine if any guards or covers are missing or inadequately secured. Personnel could be seriously injured or machine damage may occur.

Observe the safe working load limits of all lifting and blocking devices and keep a safe distance from suspended/blocked loads. Personnel may be seriously injured or killed by falling loads.

Visual Service Procedure Colors

Note: Based on SAE J2892 Surface Vehicle Recommended Practice.

Graphic Color Description

Color-coding of targeted components, or sections of a part, is used to communicate a required action.

The descriptions below illustrate the different colors and what is represented when used in a graphic.

(Blue) The primary component of focus for a particular step. Target or primary component to be installed or removed. Installation implied unless otherwise noted with a symbol.

(CAT® Yellow) Description of parts.

(Yellow) Components disconnected, connected, or placed aside for access, but not removed. Highlighted areas of adjustment, inspection, or special attention.

(Cyan) Special tools or other equipment required for use in a particular step.

(Light Gray) Components used for reference.

(Magenta) Any fastener, retainer, or electrical connector used to install or remove the primary component.

Visual Service Procedures Symbols per J2892

Align - Left - To arrange or place objects along a line referencing the bottom faces.

Apply Sealant - To apply an unbroken line of sealing material having the specified thickness or diameter.

Clean - To remove foreign or undesired material.

Cut - To divide or terminate. To reduce the length of an object.

Discard, Do Not Reuse - To cast aside as useless or undesirable in approved and responsible manner.

Finger Tighten - To apply tension or torque with one's digits and unaided by a tool or lever.

Keep, Store - To retain for reinstallation or reuse.

Measure - To determine the dimension, area, volume, or other quantifiable property of an object. A desired quantity of something.

Move - To go in a specified direction or manner, change position.

Remove - To take off

Replace - To restore, or return, to a former or proper place

Route - To install a harness, hose, or wire along a specific course or layout along or through a product, to direct along a predefined path.

Tighten - To make nearer, to fully stretch, without slack, or to apply tension or torque.

Weld - To join by heating until liquid portions of two or more pieces of metal in contact with each other and allowing the common puddle to solidify.

Machine Preparation

  1. Move the machine to a dry, level, solid surface that is free of any debris.

    Note: The surface must be solid enough to support the weight of the machine and any tooling that is used to support the machine.

  2. Lower the work tool to the ground.

  3. Ensure that the pressure is released from any closed system that will be opened during the maintenance procedure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release" for more information.

This machine is equipped with lockout controls to suit the following types of machine maintenance.
