Reference: This article supercedes the article with the same title in the March 25, 1991 Service Magazine.
Description of Change: A new shaft bracket and oil supply plug are used in the rocker valve shaft assembly. The new plug blocks an oil supply hole in the bracket. The plug must be used with the new bracket in all the above engine applications except for on-highway truck engines equipped with a Jake Brake®.
Adaptable To: The new 7C7011 Shaft Bracket (2) and 3K8460 Plug (1) replace the former 7N8015 Shaft Bracket (not canceled). If a new 7C7011 Shaft Bracket is used for parts service in an application other than with a Jake Brake, the 3K8560 Plug must be installed.
To install the plug, apply 5P3413 Pipe Sealant to the threads and tighten the plug to a torque of 20 ± 5 N·m (15 ± 5 lb ft). See the illustration for the location of the new parts.
