Two Different Air Inlet Heater Control Modules Available{1090,1087,1058}

Usage:

3116 ( 7SF ) Truck Engines

The air inlet heater control module controls the length of time the air inlet heater is on. Two different air inlet heater control modules are available.

The 7E9958 Control Module Assembly is the current standard module in 1991. It replaced the former 7E5561 Control Module Assembly (used in 1990) which is canceled. Both of these modules perform the same. They turn the air inlet heater "off" after a seven minute cycle. The 7E9958 Control Module Assembly has improved electronic circuitry.

The optional 4P6602 Control Module Assembly is for parts service only. This module cycles the air inlet heater "on" for ten minutes. Then the module cycles the heater "off" for ten seconds and "on" for ten seconds for the next ten minutes. Then the module turns the heater completely "off". This optional module should be used in applications where the white smoke at start-up returns after the standard module turns the air inlet heater "off" after seven minutes. The optional 4P6602 Control Module Assembly will keep the inlet heater "on" longer to help prevent the white smoke. The control modules are identified by a raised part number molded into the end of the plastic case on the opposite end from the connection. Some early 7E5561 Control Modules did not have the molded part number.

To get the best results from the optional 4P6602 Control Module Assembly, it should be used in conjunction with optional 7E9425 Jacket Water Temperature Switch instead of the standard 7E6106 Jacket Water Temperature Switch (used in 1990 and 1991). The optional 7E9425 Jacket Water Temperature Switch will allow the air inlet heater to be "on" until the jacket water temperature reaches 49°C (120°F). The standard 7E6106 Jacket Water Temperature Switch will allow the air inlet heater to be "on" only until the jacket water reaches 32°C (85°F).
