Remove And Clean Flame Arrestors At Each Top End Overhaul{1058,1087}

Usage:

3508 ( 2JF ),
3512 ( 4KC ),
3516 ( 3RC ) SI Industrial Engines

During normal operation, the 4P3565 Flame Arrestors (formerly 9Y5322 Flame Arrestors) are subject to plugging due to the cleanliness of the inlet air and fuel gas. This plugging can cause loss of total engine power, variations in cylinder-to-cylinder power, and variations in exhaust temperatures. To reduce these variations, Caterpillar recommends that the flame arrestors be removed and cleaned at each top end overhaul. A solvent cleaning is recommended for best results. During this cleaning, inspect the arrestors for cracked or missing fins. Replace the arrestors if these problems are found.
