There are several specific messages on this machine. The location of the messages and the description of the messages are reviewed in this section. Become familiarized with all messages.
Make sure that all of the messages are legible. Clean the messages or replace the messages if you cannot read the words. Replace the illustrations if the illustrations are not legible. When you clean the messages, use a cloth, water, and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals to clean the messages. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the messages. Loose adhesive will allow the messages to fall.
Replace any message that is damaged, or missing. If a message is attached to a part that is replaced, install a message on the replacement part. Any Cat dealer can provide new messages.
Diesel Fuel Requirements (1)
This message is located next to the fuel filler cap in the fuel fill access compartment.

Mixing alcohol or gasoline with diesel fuel can produce an explosive mixture in the engine crankcase or fuel tank. Personal injury and damage to the engine may result. Caterpillar recommends against this practice. |
There are many different types of fuel additives that are available to use. Caterpillar does not generally recommend the use of fuel additives.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations" for the use of fuel additives and fuel conditioners.
Cab Tilt Pump (2)
Your machine is equipped with a cab tilt pump, this additional message is located inside the fuel fill door.

The cab tilt pump is installed to aide in tilting the cab when maintenance or repair needs to be performed on components underneath the cab.
Air Conditioner (3)
This message is located on the left side of the front instrument panel.

This message for the air conditioner has the appropriate information for the following services: the air conditioner lubricant, the refrigerant charge and the refrigerant capacity.
Follow instruction in order to avoid engine damage.

This message describes the fire points that are available on the engine compartments. Use the apertures in order to suppress fire hazards in the engine compartment.
Do not use an unsafe method in order to suppress fire hazards in the engine compartment.

If your machine is equipped with the Product Link System, this additional message is located in the cab on the right-hand counsel.

The Product Link System is a satellite or cellular communication device that transmits information regarding the machine back to Caterpillar and Caterpillar dealers and customers. All logged events and diagnostic codes that are available to the Cat Electronic Technician (ET) can be sent to satellite or cellular tower. Information can also be sent to the Product Link System. The information is used to improve Caterpillar products and Caterpillar services.
Cylinder Bending (10)
This message is located on the front window of the machine.

Do Not Change Pressures (11)
