Description of Change: The system that holds open the rear doors during maintenance operations has been improved on certain D6K Track-Type Tractors and PL61 Pipelayers. The design of the system has been changed to prevent the bending of the rod assembly and to improve the durability of the system.
Adaptable To: The new 348-9380 Rod As (10) is part of 289-6145 Access Cover Gp (2) and 289-6140 Access Cover Gp (1) in the 206-7245 Platform Enclosure Gp .
The new 348-9380 Rod As (10) is adaptable to the machines and effective in production with the machines that are listed in Table 1.

Note: If you need to replace the 293-3126 Access Door As, replace with new 389-7297 Access Door As along with 382-8937 Bracket As and 348-9380 Rod As .
Note: If you need to replace the 293-3127 Access Door As, replace with new 389-7296 Access Door As along with 382-8938 Bracket As and 348-9380 Rod As .
Note: If you need to replace the 278-2220 Rod As, replace with same 278-2220 Rod As for 293-3126 Access Door As and 293-3127 Access Door As .Use the following procedure to install the new rod assembly on the enclosure platform group:

- Remove three nuts (3), and four washers (4) and save the parts.

- Remove plate (5), rod assembly (7), and access door assembly (6). Discard the parts.
- Install new access door assembly (8), and bracket assembly (9) with three nuts (3) and four washers (4). Use the parts that were saved in Step 1.

- Install new rod assembly (10) to the access door assembly (8) as shown in Illustration 3.
- Remove three nuts (12), and four washers (13). Save the parts.

- Install new access door assembly (16), and bracket assembly (17) with three nuts (12) and four washers (13). Use the parts that were saved in Step 5.
