STIC Lockout Control - Check and Adjust

Place blocks in front of and behind the wheels to make sure the machine does not move while the parking brakes are disengaged.

Introduction

This procedure is used to check and adjust the STIC Lockout Control.

Test Preparation

Be sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions.

Be sure that the steering frame lock is in the stored position.

Fasten the seat belt before testing the steering and transmission lockout systems.

Note: Park the machine on a level surface.

Test Procedure

  1. Start the engine and raise the work tool clear of the ground.

  1. Depress the service brake pedal to apply the service brakes. Disengage the parking brake.

  1. Release the service brakes.

    (1) Steering and transmission lock lever

  1. With steering and transmission lock lever (1) in the LOCKED position (as shown), attempt to steer the machine in either direction. The machine should not move. If the machine moves refer to "Adjustment Procedure (STIC Lockout Control)".

  1. If, the machine does not steer in either direction engage the parking brake. Lower the work tool to the ground and stop the engine.

  1. Install the steering frame lock.

  1. Move steering and transmission lock lever (1) to the UNLOCKED position (as shown).

    (A) Measurement

  1. Open the operator station door. Using Tooling (G), measure the distance (A) the door opens before the steering and transmission lock lever (1) moves to the LOCKED position.

    ReferenceRefer to table 1 for required setting.

  1. If steering and transmission lock lever (1) does not move to the LOCKED position. Refer to "Adjustment Procedure (Actuator Lever)".

Adjustment Procedure (STIC Lockout Control)

  1. Engage the parking brake. Lower the work tool to the ground and stop the engine.

  1. Install the steering frame lock.

  1. Remove cover (2) .

  1. Move steering and transmission lock lever (1) to the LOCKED position.

    Note: Ensure STIC steering pilot valve (3) is in the NEUTRAL position throughout the adjustment procedure.

  1. Loosen two nuts (4). With STIC steering pilot valve (3) in the NEUTRAL position, adjust plate (5) in order to engage steering and transmission lock lever (1) correctly. Tighten two nuts (4). Operate steering and transmission lock lever (1) and check for smooth operation.

  1. Move steering and transmission lock lever (1) in both directions.

  1. Check the STIC lockout control. Refer to "Test Procedure".

  1. Install the cover to the steering and transmission lock assembly.

Adjustment Procedure (Actuator Lever)

  1. Remove cover (2) .

    (10) Yoke

    (11) Clip

  1. Loosen nut (8) .

  1. Remove clip (11) and pin (9) .

  1. Turn yoke (10) to lengthen or shorten rod assembly (7). Lengthening rod assembly (7) will increase the measurement the door will open before the steering and transmission lever will move the LOCKED position. Shortening rod assembly (7) will decrease the measurement the door will open before the steering and transmission lever will move the LOCKED position.

  1. Install pin (9) and clip (11) .

  1. Check the STIC lockout control measurement. Refer to table 1.

  1. Tighten nut (8) .

  1. Install cover (2) .

  1. Remove the steering frame lock.
