Removal Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the front tires. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install".
- Remove the cotter pin and the nut from tie rod (2) .

- Install a suitable full nut in order to separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle. Remove the full nut.
- Disconnect tie rod (2) .
- Install Tooling (A) .
- Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A) .
- Remove plug (5) in order to drain the final drive fluid into a suitable container.
- Remove bolts (1), plate (3), and the ball joint. Repeat for the bottom.
- Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove final drive assembly (4), which includes the axle. The weight of final drive assembly (4) is approximately 102 kg (225 lb).
- Repeat Steps 1 through 8 for the other side.
