Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the front tires. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install".

1. Remove the cotter pin and the nut from tie rod (1) .

2. Install a suitable full nut in order to separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle. Remove the full nut.

3. Disconnect tie rod (1) .

4. Remove plug (4) in order to drain the final drive fluid into a suitable container.

5. Remove screws (2) .

6. Remove carrier assembly (3) .

7. Remove retaining rings (5), rings (6) and (9), gears (7), and bearings (8) from carrier assembly (3) .

8. Remove sun gear (25), retaining ring (27), and thrust washers (28), and (29) .

9. Remove screw (24) and lock plate (23) .

10. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove nut (30), gear (22), and bearing cone (21) .

11. Remove O-ring seal (31) .

12. Remove hub assembly (26) .

13. Remove bearing cups (20) and (19) from hub assembly (26) .

14. Remove seal (14) and bearing cone (18) .

15. Remove bolts (10), ball joint (11), shim (12), O-ring seal (13), bearing cap (16), and bearing cone (17) .

16. Repeat Step 15 for the bottom.

17. Remove housing (15) .

18. Remove bearing cup (32). Repeat for the bottom.

19. Remove U-joint (37) .

20. Remove clip (38) and bushing (39) from U-joint (37) .

21. Remove clip (36) and bushing (35) from U-joint (37) .

22. Remove shaft (34) and seal (33) .
