Water May Leak Into The Cab Or Canopy Caterpillar

Water May Leak Into The Cab Or Canopy

Usage:

EXCAVATOR301.5 (3YW1-UP) MINI-HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR

Problem:

Water may leak in the cab near the area of the four lifting eye bolts. A leak path may have been created during the cab manufacturing process. The water enters the inside of the cab, draining through the the holes in the two horizontal channels in the roof. This leakage may also occur on canopy machines.

Solution:

Engineering is working on a permanent solution. All cabs are now water tested. Sealant is also applied to the seal area between the top roof plate and the lifting eye block to eliminate the leak path. However if leakage does occur in the field, the following hardware can be installed in the lifting eye bores:

Tighten the 8T-4179 Screw to a torque of 20 ± 4 N·m (177 ± 35 lb in).

The ring seal will prevent water from leaking into the cab.
