Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before installation, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

1. Raise the temperature of gear (18). Use a suitable press to install bearing (19) in gear (18).

2. Install gear (18), bearing (19), and retaining ring (17) into housing (11).

3. Install shaft (13), gear (14), and spacer (15) in housing (11).

4. Use a suitable press to install bearing race (16) on shaft (13).

5. Install bolts (12) to shaft (13) and housing (11). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

6. Apply Tooling (A) to housing (11).

7. Install housing (11) to the transmission cover.

8. Install bolts (10). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

9. Lower the temperature of bearing (9). Use a suitable press to install bearing (9) in gear (8).

10. Install gear (8), bearing (9), and retaining ring (7) to cover assembly (4).

11. Install shaft (6) and bolts (5) in cover assembly (4). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

12. Apply a continuous bead of Tooling (A) to the machined surface of cover assembly (4).

13. Install cover assembly (4) and bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

14. Connect tube assembly (2) and install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

End By:

1. Install the transmission oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Oil Pump - Install".

2. Install the piston pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Implement, Pilot, Steering, Brake) - Install".

3. Install the bottom guard for the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Transmission) - Install".
