Start By:

  1. Remove the steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Impelement, Steering, Brake) - Remove".

  1. Remove the plug and needle valve (1) .

  1. Remove bolts (2) and valve assembly (3) .

  1. Remove three seals (4) . Remove plug (5) .

    Note: Measure the distance from the body to the end of socket setscrew (13) before removal.

  1. Remove locknut (12) . Remove socket setscrew (13) , if necessary.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (11) , spring guide (10) , spring (9) , spring stop pin (8) , spring guide (7) , and spool (6) from valve assembly (3) .

  1. Remove plug (14) .

    Note: Measure the distance from the body to the end of socket setscrew (21) before removal.

  1. Remove locknut (20) . Remove socket setscrew (21) , if necessary.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (19) , spring guide (18) , spring (17) , spring guide (16) , and spool (15) from valve assembly (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (22) and head assembly (23) .

    Note: Raise the temperature of the head in order to remove dowel rods (26) and (27) .

  1. Remove pin (25) and bearing cup (24) .

  1. Remove dowel rods (26) and (27) , if necessary.

  1. Remove gasket (28) , coupler (29) , and plate (30) .

  1. Remove spring (31) and pistons (32) and (33) .

  1. Remove bolts (34) and cover (35) .

  1. Remove plug (36) .

  1. Check the condition of O-ring seal (37) on plug (36) and O-ring seal (38) on cover (35) .

  1. Remove bolts (39) from each side.

  1. Remove bearing (40) and spacer (41) from each side. Remove bearing cone (42) and the shim.

  1. Put identification marks on the pistons and the barrel assembly for assembly purposes. Remove barrel assembly (43) , piston (44) , and guide ring (45) .

  1. Remove pistons (44) and guide ring (45) from barrel assembly (43) .

  1. Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to disassemble barrel assembly (43) . Compress spring (47) until Tooling (A) is below retaining ring (49) . Remove retaining ring (49) . Slowly release the compression that is on spring (47) . Remove spring (47) and washers (46) and (48) .

  1. Remove shaft (50) , swashplate (51) , and stops (53) from the swashplate. Remove bearing cone (52) from the shaft.

  1. Remove bearing cup (54) and two seals (55) .

  1. Remove screws (56) and bearings (57) .
