Installation of the 5P-4889 O-Ring Seal for the Fuel Transfer Pump{1256} Caterpillar

Engine:

C11 (S/N: KCA1-UP)

C13 (S/N: KCB1-UP; LEE1-UP)

Introduction

This Special Instruction only pertains to the application of the 5P-4889 O-Ring Seal used on the fuel transfer pumps for C11 and C13 On-highway Engines. This Special Instruction should be ignored for all other applications of the O-ring seal.

Installation

(1) O-ring seal (2) Fuel transfer pump

1. Install O-ring seal (1) in the front housing bore. Be sure that the O-ring seal sits securely in the bottom of the bore.

   Note: DO NOT install the O-ring seal on the fuel transfer pump first. Installing the O-ring seal on the pump first could cause a misalignment of the O-ring seal when the pump is installed in the engine. A leaking fuel transfer pump may be the result.

2. Install fuel transfer pump (2) on the front housing. Tighten the bolts that secure the pump to the front housing to the proper torque.
