Description of Change: The differential and bevel gear group has been updated. The new gear group incorporates a new differential group. The new differential group uses a new spider with four legs instead of three legs. The new design more evenly distributes the torque and yields longer service life for the differential and bevel gear group.

Adaptable To: The 8W-5430 Differential and Bevel Gear Gp now uses a 154-2688 Differential Gp instead of the 8W-5112 Differential Gp. The 154-2688 Differential Gp utilizes a 154-2689 Spider which has four legs.

This updated gear group is effective on the following machines:

• 12H (S/N: 4XM1869-UP; 8MN624-UP; 2WR727-UP; 4ER549-UP; 2GS379-UP; 5ZM298-UP)

• 140H (S/N: 2ZK3481-UP; 9TN797-UP; 9ZN264-UP; 8JM295-UP; 3AS474-UP; 5HM1406-UP)

• 143H (S/N: 1AL578-UP)

• 160H (S/N: 9EJ624-UP; 3GM88-UP; 2FM485-UP; 2HS384-UP; 9JM358-UP)

• 163H (S/N: 5AK181)

The 8W-5112 Differential Gp can be updated on all earlier machines. A new housing and a new spider are required.

The 155-2283 Pinion As includes a 174-6819 Sleeve Bearing .

Replace the 8X-4556 Housing As with Housing Assembly (2). Replace the 155-2281 Spider with Spider (1) .

When the differential is updated from a spider with three legs to a spider with four legs, Pinion Assembly (3) and Spacer (4) are required.
