Start By:

  1. Remove the hook winch motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hook Winch Motor - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove plug (2) from housing (1) from the hook winch motor.

  1. Remove bolts (4), the washers, and housing (3) .

    Note: Mark the location of the lubrication tubes for installation purposes.

  1. Remove plate (6) and two lubrication tubes (5) .

  1. Remove O-ring (7) and seal (8) from lubrication tube (5). Repeat for the other lubrication tube.

    Note: Note the location of the shims for installation.

  1. Remove shims (9) from each hole.

  1. Remove bearing race (11) and two pins (10) from the motor head.

  1. Put housing (3) in a vise and remove plug assembly (12) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (13) from plug assembly (12) .

  1. Remove pressure relief valve (14) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (15) from pressure relief valve (14) .

  1. Remove plunger (19), spring (17), and piston (16) from pressure relief valve (14) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (18) from plunger (19) .

  1. Remove plug assembly (20) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (21) from plug assembly (20) .

  1. Remove spring (22), nozzle (23), and washer (24) .

  1. Use a torch to heat housing (25). Use Tooling (E) to remove housing (25) from the valve assembly.

    Note: The housing cannot be replaced in the valve after heat has been applied.

  1. Remove nozzle (27), washer (28), and spring (26) .

  1. Remove nuts (29) and pins (30) from the housing.

  1. Remove four bolts (31) and regulator housing (32) from the housing.

  1. Remove O-ring seals (33) from the regulator housing.

  1. Use Tooling (F), four bolts, and the washers to compress the barrel into the housing.

  1. Use Tooling (C) to remove the bearing and the spacer.

  1. Remove the rotating group from the housing.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (34) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) to remove lip seal (35) from the housing.

  1. Remove bearing (36) and the pin.

  1. Remove shaft (38) from housing (40) .

  1. Use a suitable press to remove bearing (41) from shaft (38) .

  1. Remove housing (40) from pistons (42) .

  1. Use a suitable press to compress the spring.

  1. Use Tooling (D) to remove retaining ring (43) from housing (40) .

  1. Remove spacer (46), spring (45), and spacer (44) from housing (40) .

  1. Remove two bolts (48) from plate (47) .

  1. Remove bolts (49) from plate (50) .

  1. Remove shims (49) .

  1. Remove piston (52) and plate (53) from cradle (57) .

  1. Remove pistons (52) from plate (53) .

    Note: Mark the location of shafts (55) for installation purposes.

  1. Remove plate (50), the shims, and two shafts (55) from cradle (57). Remove split rings (56) from shafts (55), if necessary.

  1. Remove three dowel pins (59) from the cradle.
